Blues Radio Report: Kirsten Thien and James Kinds Return, Rory Block Debuts, Gregg Allman Holds #1

Rory Block's latest in the Mentors' Series makes its chart debut...

New albums and old familiar friends, that's the theme for this week's look at the biggest albums and artists at blues radio. I'm so happy to see Kirsten Thien's Delicious surge back into the Top 20 at Roots Music Report. She is such a good vocalist, there are some excellent songs on the record, and I really want to see it get a chance to find an audience because there is one out there for it.  James Kinds' Delmark Records debut Love You From The Top is also back on our chart radar this week.

Rory Block's tribute to Mississippi Fred McDowell is out this week. My review of it will go live this week (it's finished, so this is not one of my empty promises or ambitious goals) to coincide with the release but it's already gaining some radio traction. Recent sets from Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears and Big Head Todd & The Monster's Big Head Blues Club are also still making it happen on the charts. Reviews for those albums can already be found on the site and links are provided.

Gregg Allman, Roomful of Blues, and Damon Fowler continue their stranglehold at and near the top of the charts with no real end in sight. Check out the Roots Music Report and BluesMobile charts and the reviews we have here at BBS:
