Daft Punk #1, The National #3 iTunes Albums Chart, Macklemore & Lewis Hold #1 Song

iTunes' Official Music Charts for the week ending May 27, 2013...

We have that rare moment when I look at the iTunes Music Store weekly chart and find something to smile about, something that pleases me. Let us all take a moment to recongize this rare occasion. The source of my joy? The instant classic Trouble Will Find Me from The National is went to #3 in its first week of release. It deserved the top spot because everyone in America should own this record but I take comfort in this lofty debut.

Daft Punk's long-awaited album Random Access Memory gets the top slot and while it's not a record I'm eager to investigate, I've learned a bit more about them in the lead-up to the release of this album and recognize many see them as innovative, creative forces in the world of electronica. I'll salute them for their big debut while believing they should have gotten the 3-hole instead. Between Daft Punk and The National is the soundtrack to the new film adaptation of The Great Gatsby. Also of note this week on the albums chart are the latest records from Darius Rucker, Vampire Weekend, and 30 Seconds To Mars.

As for the singles, there's only one thing I'm keeping an eye on: at what point does Robin Thicke edge out Ryan Lewis & Macklemore for the top spot. Pink briefly did it with "Just Give Me A Reason" but this new duo took back the title. Thicke has been at #2 for two weeks and I believe he's going to get to #1 for at least one week. I'm not actually rooting for Thicke so much as I am against Lewis and Macklemore but I don't know if that even matters at this point. "Get Lucky" by Daft Punk is still in the Top 10, no doubt a catalyst for their #1 slot.

With that, I remind you to buy Trouble Will Find Me and present to you iTunes' Official Music Charts for the week ending May 27, 2013:
