I'm one of the most blessed people I know but I've never thought of myself as particularly lucky until Twitter made me a big, fat winner- well, they made me a winner; I blame the fat on Ben & Jerry. I won a free download of The Decemberists' The King Is Dead this week and lo and behold it's the #1 album at iTunes and on Billboard's Hot 200. I listened to it this morning all the way through and it was my first experience with the band. It was a pleasant listen but I'll need to hear it a few more times before I render any sort of verdict or even attempt a review.

The rest of the list is a good bit less interesting (to me). Several names here are up for Grammys and the ceremony is fast approaching. I don't know if I can bring myself to watch the ceremony but I'll keep tabs on who comes home with the tiny trophies
