My unyielding affection for Rhett Miller is the worst. kept. secret. ever. here at Blinded by Sound. I’m a girl that loves singer-songwriters, and Rhett’s voice is a favorite amongst favorites. So you can imagine my excitement now that we are just a week away from the release of Miller’s newest solo record, The Dreamer.
And in anticipation of The Dreamer, we are given some delicious Rhett goodness to tide us over until the real thing arrives. First up is a video of Miller at the American Songwriter office singing “Lost Without You,” which he co-wrote with Ben Kweller. In the video Miller talks about the “cheerleader” role Kweller played in bringing this song to life.
Finally, with father’s day approaching, Miller has written a piece for Salon.com that’s a letter to his children outlining his love of David Bowie’s Hunky Dory record – a record Miller claims has the “signposts pointing the way to the path [he] chose in life.”
For those of us feeling lost without new music from Miller, the wait is almost over. The Dreamer will be released June 5th and can be pre-ordered now here.
