The X Factor Lucky 7: Lakoda Rayne, LeRoy Bell Elimiated; Kelly Clarkson and Bruno Mars Perform

Last night The X Factor contestants gave thanks and dedicated their performances to loved ones; tonight two will get to go home and spend Thanksgiving with them.

Kelly Clarkson kicks off the show with her latest single, “Stronger” off her latest album of the same name. As much as I didn’t love this single, I do like listening to her live, her voice is pretty impressive.

After the obligatory group number, Worthless Host Steve Jones asks Drew and Lakoda Rayne to join him and reveals one of them is going straight home tonight for receiving the lowest overall votes. Paula Abdul has to say goodbye to her third and final group, as Lakoda Rayne is eliminated, but Paula will stay on in a judging capacity. Steve Jones asks them how it feels for their dream to be over; someone needs to stop him from trying to think of his own bits, immediately.

Bruno Mars is the second performer of the evening and gives us a little treat with his latest single (also featured on the Breaking Dawn Soundtrack) “It Will Rain.”
Now it’s time to reveal with of the remaining seven acts will have to sing for their survival. Steve Jones calls Chris Rene, Rachel Crow and Josh Krajcik to be safe before leaving us hanging for a commercial. Next we learn that Melanie Amaro is also safe, along with Astro; leaving Marcus Canty and LeRoy Bell to sing for survival. Marcus is kind of jazzed up and says he’s “feeling funny” while LeRoy is “scared.”

Marcus Canty is up first and somberly performs “You Lost Me.” He’s decidedly less animated than he was when Steve announced he was in the Bottom Two. LeRoy Bell’s rasp and soul are on full display with “Don’t Let Me Down” and if this were a singing competition, I’d say LeRoy stays over Marcus…oh wait; it is a singing competiton…ish. Still, I know the judges will either deadlock or straight out keep the young buck over the old guy who looks “good for his age.”

With no further ado we start with LA Reid who lies and says he likes them both but of course sends LeRoy home and pleads his case for Marcus’ staying to the other judges. Nicole is next and not surprisingly she sends home Marcus. Why do the mentors even get a vote? They will never send home their own people. Paula says LeRoy had the better night tonight and then lies to them both by saying they’ll both have huge careers before sending Marcus home. Simon is the deciding vote and totally wusses out and lets it go to deadlock, which defers to the lowest number of votes. LeRoy sadly gets the boot and leaves with class telling us he’s okay.

We’re now down to the final seven acts who are vying for that $5 million dollar recording contract from Sony Records. The X Factor will be back to its regular Wednesday-Thursday slot and will once again do the double elimination.

LeRoy Bell and Lakoda Rayne were the eliminated acts tonight; did America get it right? Are your favorites still intact? Check back for my thoughts and recap of next week’s shows.
